Convoy of Hope (imagine the Peace Corps driven by the mission of Jesus) wanted a unique, creative, fun, relational and somewhat out of the box way to connect with students at the World Missions Summit in Cincinatti.
At a conference among thousands of servant-hearted students, Convoy of Hope created an alert group to send out messages to kids with a secret location for exclusive prizes.
Matt Wilkie, Director of the Internship program integrated their booth with the give-a-ways. ” We told people to text Convoy to 47201 while at the booth and even had them pull out their phones during our sessions. The ones who signed up would get text messages at various times throughout the conference pointing out where they could get a free hoodie, water bottle, etc. It created a buzz…and people wanted to sign up to hear about the next batch of free stuff.”
Each time new message was to be sent, heaps of new students signed up waiting by their phones for the next announcement. By the end of the conference, hundreds of students had Convoy of Hope hoodies on their backs and info in their cell phone inbox. Brand awareness was surely achieved through the innovation and creative execution of Convoy of Hope.
